Hi Chris,

My William Walker named one of his sons Joseph, he also named a son after brother Thomas, it seemed the norm to name the first son after their father or themselves.

The records for Whitwick are badly faded, the CD Books on Whitwick are the same, they are so hard to read.

Hi spark,

Is that William Walker from your tree or one you found to help? I have listed a few Walkers from Cole Orton.

I'm still compiling Walkers from Whitwick & checking I havn't duplicated them.

Regards,

Spatts.

Hi Spatts,

It is one from my tree to help / hinder,  you may have a linkage.  I have not got further back as there are too many with the same name to be certain which is mine.

Best wishes

Hi again,

Second attempt as PC inadvertantly shutdown mid composure.

I should add that I believe I have a second family of Walkers, that I have yet to follow up on, from family stories.  They are more likely to be Whitwick Walkers.

Thomas Walker married Eliza Commons 1900 AdlZ RD.
I know of ~6 children, some from stories others post 1912 when mothers maiden name is recorded on the indexes.

Cheers

Hi Spark,

Do you have any Walkers going to Australia??

I have two Walkers that moved from Whitwick to ST. Benedicts Lane, Lincoln, Lincolnshire. I'm trying to find which members of my Walker family went to Australia gold prospecting & did quite well, I have family rings that have been passed down by the one who came back.

I have lots of posts on here, Lincolnshire board & Australia board under Spatts but, although I havn't found them yet, I feel I'm getting close. Long story but, the thread ' Walkers of Lincoln & those who went to Oz' explains it in more detail.

Just about to put another post on the Lincolnshire board about a Isabella Otter married to a William Walker, a Thomas Walker sailed on the same ship 'Catherine' with his wife in 1851. There was also a George, not a sibling but, could be a cousin, he came back in 1855, married & returned to Oz with his new bride, his brother & his brother's wife.

Best regards,

Spatts.

Hi Spatts,

I have no knowledge of any of my Walkers going antipodean!  That is not to say they didn't.

Have you tried http://www.goleicestershire.com/see-and-do/Whitwick-Historical-Group.aspx ?  I live close by and was a member for ~5years.

I have a tree on ancestry if you have an acount I'll PM you the tree name.

Cheers

Hello;
We have Walker's in Philadelphia who came from Leciester, Eng.  I don't know that your interested but here goes:

Elizabeth Grant, B.10/24/1866 in Leciester had a sister, Charlotte Grant.  Charlotte married Arthur Walker, who had two girls, Edna & Nellie.  We have a picture of Charlotte Grant Walker...she's old.
