John's marriage to Jean, and William's marriage to Jessie should give parent's names.

If you are not already aware of it, Scotland's People (pay site) is the place you need for Scottish b,m,d's.

Anderson middle name could have been a friend, relative or a family name - if not an obvious family connection you may never find out.

There is a submitted record on the IGI for a William Cloy or Niblock, 1828 Kirkmaiden, Wigtown - father William Cloy, mother Jane Niblock. This will need verificiation. No other children are showing for this couple in Wigtown.

On Scotlands People I can see a match for a marriage in 1842 in Wigtown between John Cloy and a Broadfoot. I can't see a marriage for William Cloy but maybe someone else may be able to.

Did William marry twice? Firstly to Elizabeth McCulloch and then Jessie Davidson?

Also on SP I have found a death in 1889 for a William Cloy in Wigtown b 1828+/- 2 years. I wonder if he is your William?

On the 1841 census, there is a John Cloy and a William Cloy born around the right years, both living in Old Luce, but both are working and living with other families, so impossible to connect them.

Not sure if there may be two William Cloys running around both born at the same time in Wigtownshire  There is an online tree I think, Ruskie, for the William Cloy/Niblock (whose birth shows as submitted on IGI) who looks to have married a Catherine McGinn in 1856. His parents are given as William and Jean (Niblock) on that IGI entry (likely birth illegitimate?). His years are 1828-1907, death in Dalry, Ayrshire.
