cannot see john or margaret on 1901 census
there is a death in 1897 in ormskirk reg dist of a john linaker aged 76
there is also a death of a margaret linaker in preston reg dist in 1899 aged 80
whether this is them or not is another matter?

May I just point out that on Family Search it states
27th Mar 1819 North Meols , Lancashire
William Linaker to Catherine GONSTIGE ...so maybe both surnames ,ie Gorstege/Gonstige need researching..

ADDED...there is a Catherine Gorstage christened 12th November 1797 at St Peter , Formby , Lancs..(close to North Meols)
father John Gorstage
mother Alice

John GORSTIGE married Alice Rimmer in the same church 1st November 1790...
I have just checked quite a few of the family records and they mistranscribed 5 ways

all the same family...
