Ann CASSELL in 1861

Would someone do me a favour and look up Ann Cassell in the 1861 at Whitchurch. I found the following refererence on family search and also a death ref  in Whitchurch H Reg Dist  in 1906 which matches Ann but she doesn't appear to be on the 1881 transcript  or any following censuses  under any variation that I can think of.

The familysearch reference is:-

What I would like to know is who was she lodging with - in case it was a relative - and what happened to her.

Finally found her in 1901 by looking for Frederick Barley. Transcribed as Cappell!

I can't see her in the 1911 so I would say the death you found in 1906 is the one. The place and age are spot on.

Yes, Ann Cassell was deaf and dumb, as was her mother who amazingly managed to rear to adulthood and marriage, some 12 children. Ann is the last one that I have found as an adult.
Unfortunately, the problem which caused the deafness (and therefore dumbness) has passed right down through the generations to several of my kin, and my grandson.
Comparatively easily remedied nowadays. Called glue-ear.

I can't find Ann in 1881. Harry Barley has died and Ann is not with Louisa and family.

Thank you for finishing off for me. I now know that Ann never married and I can also start looking into which paper mill that she worked for. Her brother in law also worked in paper mills - in Berkshire, so I should imagine that there might have been some influence there.

Am not quite sure how this system works as I am new to it but many thanks for your help in looking up the Castell/Castle family member who lived at the same address where related members of my Barley family lived in the early and mid 1800s. The work done has also helped me to obtain new information so much appreciated !!

So glad I helped but just re-reading this thread I see we never did find Ann in 1881.  The 1881 census is free on familyseach.org and ancestry and findmypast so you can keep going back to it when you have the time to use all variations of names you can think of.
