Descendants of Sir William Chambers
« on: Saturday 23 April 11 02:14 BST (UK) »
Looking for the link (if there is one) between Sir William Chambers, born 1723, died 1796, and George Chambers (no further info), father of Alexander Chambers who married Ellen Turner in 1863.  Can anyone help please?  Bookworm 3498

Hi

It's possible that Alexander's parents were George CHAMBERS and Mary Drayton HOLLOWAY who married in 1822 in Finsbury.  There is only a Banns notice for this marriage so no parents are given for either George or Mary.

Familysearch shows a few possible births for a George CHAMBERS from 1790 to 1800.

Cheers
Karenlee

Thank you Karenlee, will investigate.  Think Mary Holloway is a possibility.  Have found a George Chambers born 1766 who married a Jane Rodney in 1784 in Westminster (very young George) who could be our George's parents, but not sure.

George Chambers son of Sir W Chambers married Hon Jane Rodney, dtr of admiral lord rodney,  in 1784.  There were 9 children,  one girl Jane, and 8 sons - montague. augustus, frederic, auriol, courtenay, newton, william rodney and george.(1786)  Not all were George's children -  George sued Jane's seducer for damages . A deed of separation was signed in 1798, and Sir WC Will( 1795) leaves money only to George's legitimate children.....
