Hi eilbronx,

Welcome to Rootchat.

Are you able to post a little bit more information about your Aunt please, ie., her parents names, approximate year of birth, marital status, State/Territory that you believe that she went to, period of time of immigration.

Anthing at all that will enable respondents to your enquiry to accurately locate her.

Cheers,

Janet.

Hi there,

Welcome to Rchat from me too

Regardless of how much or how little info is currently known about your aunt,  are you sure she is no longer living.  I ask this because there's various legal matters that provide living persons with the legal expectation for privacy.  Each state and territory in Australia handles this slightly differently from each other, but in general terms it is not permitted to identify living persons private details.

Cheers,  I will try to help too

My mother was born in dungarvan, ireland around 1920 and when I went to ireland I found out
about her sisters .  My mother and I were separated at a young age so I don't know that much.
Her mother was Elizabeth Foley and she was married to Maurice Fennell.  They immigrated to usa
(nyc) around 1927.

I am sorry but I am wrong, it was not my mother's sister but my grandmother Elizabeth Foley's
sister.  Her brother "called Connie" moved to ny with her when she came to ny as my grandfather
had to leave ireland due to the ira.  She had another sister who was married to a "hicky" and they
remained in ireland.

Hi there,

Please, who came to Australia (their then name), and do you know when?   I know that quite a number of Irish came after the Easter Rising of 1916 in Dublin, but Australia as part of the British Empire was already at war.

Cheers,  JM
