Sarah Fuller & Henry Smith Marriage 1832 Shoreditch More info pls
« on: Thursday 21 April 11 02:54 BST (UK) »
I am interested in finding more information on my 4G grandparents Sarah Fuller and Henry Smith.

Through a search of marriage banns and Pallots records i can only find one smith who married a fuller in Middlesex, in Shoredith 1832.

I have made the leap that these are the people I am looking for based on the information provided on my 3G grandfathers death certificate in Victoria Australia has him as born 1834 Middlesex with his parents as Henry Smith and Ann Fuller.

Is there any way to find more information on these people such as their ages and/or parents?
The Banns and Pallots records only list their names and parish. Plus the witnesses appear to be people from the church and not relatives.

Searching online indexes from australia has not provided any further information.

Wally

Marriages before 1 July 1837 did not have parents names, unless they were under age and required their permission, in which case the name of the father or mother giving permission would appear.

If your library has Ancestry then you can access this marriage via the LMA records on there, and see the actual images.

There are a number of Henry and Sarah SMITHs baptising children in the area at that time, so your 3G grandfathers baptism should be there as well. What was his name.

Thanks Ian.

My 3G Gf was Charles, i think i have found his Baptism in 1835, but not really sure at the moment as i have also found a Sarah Smith having a Charles in a workhouse with father unknown.

The old family story is that Charles was sent to australia after disgracing the family by running out on a young lady. I have a feeling this story is false as charles also apparently changed is name, but then to have parents listed on his death cert puts doubt in my mind.
