OK, so we are looking for a Mary X who married an unknown Summers in Chicago in the years leading up to 1942, is that correct?  If so, there is only one candidate couple between 1932 and 1942:

Eugene Summers married Mary E. Ervin on 8 June 1940 in Cook County, Illinois, marriage license # 53F81E6F-2A39-45F9-A244-DE6B385F7F60, File # 1638950.
Wiltshire:  Banks, Taylor
Somerset:  Duddridge, Richards, Barnard, Pillinger
Gloucestershire:  Barnard, Marsh, Crossman
Bristol:  Banks, Duddridge, Barnard
Down:  Ennis, McGee

If you think that the birth was illegitimate and the marriage to the unknown Mr. Summers happened later, there is this possibility:
