Sorry, Rothwell, Leeds, never entered my head about there being another Rothwell in England.

No problem , the downside of spending years tramping the country in trucks is that you often learn the hard way that most place names apply to several possible locations!!!!!

Do you think you can help, now you have the correct Rothwell?
Just off the subject, i work for a logistics company, though we dont have many trampers anymore. Think the our trucks only go as far up as Newcastle but go all the way down south to the ports.

James Carncross born 1811, he married Ellen hutchinson born 1814 and they married January 10th 1831 in Rothwell, i just cant seem to get back any further, i can go forward easy enough.
I have same problem with a John Jackson and Ann Smallpage married 1810 StPeters leeds, i can go forward but not backward.
Would their marriage certs have info on them, i have old birth certs for other family members but they dont have any info except name and date and dont really want to buy certs if there is nothing on them.

1841 census for information (transcribed as Carinorop):

Hoyles Court, Leeds

James Cairncross, 35, Musician, Not born in County
Ellen, 25, born in County
Charles, 5, born in county
Austin, 3, Born in County
Mary, 1, Born in County

Although she married in Rothwell, I can`t see that it says Rothwell as her place of birth on any census.  Once it says Woodhouse and the rest are Leeds.
