Ashworth

Hi Everyone 

My Aunt is trying to trace her fathers parents, but because she's a novice she is getting nowhere fast.
Could someone look on the 1911 census for Arthur Ashworth or it maybe down as Admiral Arthur Ashworth ... I haven't a clue where the Admiral bit came from because he wasn't in the Navy apparently 
He was born 22 August 1907 in Burnley, Lancs and died 1985 in Southport as far as I know.
He had a sister Mary and a brother Bert or probably Albert.
My Aunts mother was Gladys Pepper although I'm not sure when they married either.
I've found his birth in www.ancestry but because its 1907 there's no mothers name.
Sadly that's as much as she knows about her fathers family

1911 cant be searched on this site due to the T's & C's of its host - FindMyPast / Brightsolid.

What you can do is look at the 1911 Index or on GenesReunited.com site for their version ...

just to help - he does indeed appear as c1908 under the name Admiral Ashworth in a Burnley Household - but you need 'credits' or careful use of the search fields to determine the other members of the Household ...

Either theres 2 Admirals or he moved around a bit, altho not quite as far south as Sussex.

So can we assume that as a 25 year old he married Miss Sergeant in 1932 and then my Aunts mother in 1947 ??
I hope he was divorced somewhere inbetween !!!
I haven't a clue why he's using the prefix 'Admiral' ... to boost his ego maybe

ADMIRAL is his actual registered forename. see above Birth Index entry.

I would think - given how unique his name is - that you are correct in your assumption, but as always, best to get the actual Certificates to verify things.

WOW ... There are Admiral Ashworths as far as the eye can see in Lancashire in the 1800's ... very popular name. 

I've found TWO Admiral Ashworths in the 1901 census - both born in 1857 in Burnley - one is married to Elizabeth and the other is to Mary Elizabeth ... all very similar and VERY strange   The difference is the children and the address
