Cap badges
« on: Thursday 14 April 11 09:32 BST (UK) »
The soldiers in this WW1 photo look to be in at least 3 different regiments.
Can anyone identify which regiments ?
They may all be from Halifax, Yorkshire and the Duke of Wellingtons has been suggested for one of them.

Thanks
Dave

Could you rescan at better resolution Dave? Just the caps is fine, you can crop out the rest of the photo.
At this present scale, people may be able to offer tentative suggestions based on the general shape of the badges. But suggestions is all they will be, since the detail isn't visible.
Name interests: Boulton, Murrell, Lock, Croxton, Skinner, Blewett, Tonkin, Trathen.

I note your image is named Bamforth_boys, so are these lads perchance Harry, Clement, Victor & Cyril Bamforth? With mum & dad Ruth & Fred, and sister Nora?

Harry = 4013 & 201692 Private 4th Bn West Riding Regt - Medal Index Card & service record on Ancestry!

Clement = 11374 Private West Riding Regt (?8th Bn), then 71454 Private Durham Light Inf - MIC on Ancestry (received Silver War Badge).

Victor = 192485 Driver & Lance Bombardier 35th Anti-Aircraft Company, Royal Garrison Artillery - No MIC (UK service only), service record on Ancestry!

Cyril = 75553 Private West Yorks Regt, then 58532 Private Yorks & Lancs Regt, then 363623 Private Royal Engineers - MIC on Ancestry.

All appear to have survived the war.

Adrian

Adrian,
yes that is the family and you have obviously got there ahead of me. Lilian, Victor's wife, was the grand dau of my g aunt Fanny Greenwood Bland. Glad to find that they all survived the war.
Thanks for the information.
