Still looking for the Baileys........looking foir family of Gertrude Butler b !!!! Married Arthur Bailey who was the brother of previous Ethel Whiteman nee Bailey.

Arthur Bailey b1887 Chaddlesworth Berkshre they married Sept 1915 Kingsclere they had 1 son Vivien born 1920.

Do you have the marriage certificate?
That would give ages, father's names, occupations etc.

Assuming you don't (otherwise you would have an idea when Gertrude was born?), FreeBMD reports that Gertrude M Butler married Arthur J Bailey in Kingsclere in September qtr 1915, Kingsclere,

Brides usually married in their home parish, so these are good possibilities from the 1901 census:

Salters Heath, Monk Sherbourne, Basingstoke district

Butler, Frank  Head  M  32  Carter on Farm  b Kingsclere
Butler, Ada  Wife  F  31  b Kingsclere

Butler, Hilda A  Daughter  F  1  b Monk Sherbourne
Hackley, Jane  Lodger  Widow  F  65  b Sherbourne St John

This Gertrude would have been 19 (or so) at the 1915 marriage.

This Gertrude would have been 29 at the 1915 marriage.


So, you see, buying certificates is almost essential!

You really do need marriage and death certificates to be sure, but there is a Gertrude Mary BAILEY death shown in Kingsclere Jun qtr 1970 with dob 4 Jan 1887.

Also Arthur C J BAILEY death - Sep qtr 1951 Kingsclere aged 64

Gertrude Butler was my granny and Arthur Bailey my granddad.  Vivian Bailey is my dad If I can help with any information.

Gertrude Mary Butler born 4th Jan 1887 died 1970 Ashford Hill. She married Arthur James Bailey Chaddlesworth Sept.1915 at Kingsclere Registry Office. They had one son Vivian Claude Bailey born 28th Feb. 1920. (my father)  Gertrudes parents were Joseph Butler and Mary Ann Bradley.
