Thanks Audrey - makes sense about the spelling but too much of a coincidence to have the same parents and same sounding surname!

I will try to find out about the street numbering - will get bakc to you>

Cheers again.

Hello Catherine,

Am trying to trace my Gt Grandfather, Joseph Eakins, who was born in Kingstown, Dublin, circa 1870s. His father, a John Eakins, was a "Spirit Merchant" in Dublin - but no details of his mother, or address.

Jospeh moved to Belfast to marry, circa 1890s (married in Shankill in 1899) and was killed in action at the Somme in 1916.
Thanks
McVitie

Hiya McVitie,

Eakins.  That was the surname of the branch manager of the insurance company, in Belfast, where I started work in 1957 after leaving school.

Hello Chris,

I wonder if they're related. My nan Eileen left Belfast in the 1920s and moved to Cambridgeshire, and I recall her sister Mary moved to Staffordshire around just after. But certainly their brothers William and Joseph stayed in Belfast, but I haven't got round to documenting the names of their children....but you never know! Do you recall the christian name?

Eakins isn't that common, which does help my research somewhat!

Cheers

McVitie

Hello McVitie,

I sent you a PM. A brother William...the man I mentioned..his initials were W.D. I think his first name was William. He was slightly older than my Dad who was born in 1909. I dont know how much older..it might have been ten years at the most.

All the Best, Chris

Looking for John Joseph Otoole born 1879 in Dublin. His father was Francis Partick Otoole and a RSM with the Tyneside Irish in WW1. I have JJ Otoole's army record but know little about his mother. I've got either Betty Maugh or Elizabeth Warren? JJ was killed in WW1 just after getting married. He has a sister Henrietta Otoole who married Charles House in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

I need futher infromation on Francis who went by Patrick. I have a photo of him in a book published just a few years ago as an old man just before he was 60.

Any futher informtion would be greatful. You really are working well on this. Thankyou again in advance.

House - Brockenhurst, Rockbourne, Newbury, Thatcham 1500-1850's.
O'Toole - Dublin and Newcastles upon Tyne.

If I may request a name search.

Adair Maghee farmer
Mary Hannah Maghee wife of above.
Their daughters, Mary, Catherine, Bella.
Sons Patrick Jack.
I only know
Catherine Maghee was born 1885.married 1913.died 1929.
I would like to know the birth, or death of ADAIR Maghee,(deceased at the time of Catherine marriage)
or his wife Mary Hannah.
I believe then all to be living around Downpatrick.
I hope this does not pose any problems to you.
And my deepest thanks for what you are doing.

Hello,

I am looking on any info on my grandads family.

My grandfather, Robert Cyril Murphy b. 04/07/1924 in Dublin (I do not know where) but I know his family resided in Killester.

His father was Denis Murphy and was a Master Tailor, mother Mary. My grandad was one of up to 13 children (we believe) and one of his elder brothers was Michael who I beleive w3as born in 1910 and died in London during 1940.

That's all I know I'm afraid.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Ian  :)
