Thanks for checking these out for me. I too have seen the reference to a Thomas Timbrell in London at the Goldhawk Tavern. It is maybe a coincidence but the Thomas I am dealing with did run a public house called the Three Horseshoes in the Leigh in Minety from about 1895 to 1910. I wonder if he learned the trade in London. Also there is a census record for an Eliza Staples about 1/4 mile from the pub in London, she was a servant - the correct age and from Somerset (which is where, rumor has it, that Eliza Jane Staples, whose marriage I am looking for, is from)
