Now knowing that Findmypast doesn't know how to read "Mc" I see there are several McGraths on the 1891 census. William McGrath and family from Whitehaven and Constanine McGrath from Ireland.
If you are searching for McGrath, try Grath and in the 1891 I found two instances. I just did a quick check from 1841 just using Grath and birthdates spaced 20 years apart and a span of +-10. It is worth a try if all the rest fails. I didn't check 1901 and 1911

Thank you for your replies.  Catherine McGrath is not actually related to me (I don't think).  Kate McGrath was present at the death of my 2xg-grandmother, Hannah Pattinson, at 66 Strand Street, Whitehaven in 1901.  In the Census the same year Catherine McGrath lived at that address with my grandmother then 8 years old.  Nobody else lived at the address.  Catherine is listed as a widow, occupation cook and birthplace Ireland.  I believe she was my grandmother's godmother.  I am curious as to know her connection to my family - perhaps just a longtime friend?
