Readhead Marriage, St. Peters Bottesford
« on: Friday 08 April 11 23:09 BST (UK) »
Hi there, Is anyone able to look up the marriage of John Readhead/ Redhead to Elizabeth Winn, on 3/5/1827? It was solemnized at St. Peter's church, Bottesford, which was part of the Manlake Deanery.

Particularly looking for names and residences/ occupations of fathers.

Thank you!

Bride and groom were both living at Burringham (part of Bottesford parish)

I don't think I've ever seen fathers' names in an old register.

"With Consent of Friends" would suggest that one or both were minors with deceased parents.

Elizabeth seems to have died in Messingham in 1842 aged 34.

John (son of Thomas) then married in 1844 to Anne ROBINSON (dau of William).

The 1851 census shows John as aged 49, born Burringham, so he could have been http://tinyurl.com/3wqpc2u (just across the river), map http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=483500&Y=409500&A=Y&Z=120

As John and Elizabeth's first daughter seems to have been Sarah, this could have been Elizabeth's baptism http://tinyurl.com/4yhz5xl which would make her a minor at the time of her marriage.  A Sarah WINN was buried in Alkborough in 1815 aged 42.

William WINN 70 Miller, was still in Alkborough in 1841.  Indeed he was still alive in 1851 aged 79, born Glentham.  He died in 1852 and was buried in Alkborough "aged 81".

He had married Mary NAYLOR in 1824; she died in 1837 aged 47.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Hi,

Thank you for that information that's been really useful in confirming some facts. I was under the impression that John had married twice so this affirms it.

Best wishes,

Kay.

I should have said, the second marriage is to be found in the Glanford Brigg spreadsheet here http://mi.lincolnshiremarriages.org.uk/
