Thank you for the information Allan & Rosie. Would the marriage certificate have their parents names on it or should I get the birth certificates for that?

Allan - I just checked and when I clicked on the index number I found that the marriage certificate is not available to buy online for Yorkshire - only Cheshire and Lancashire. I will need to send an application by post.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Joyce

The marriage certificate should give fathers names and occupations, the birth certificate would give both parents  (unless of course they are illegitimate).

I was lucky to find a cousin on OurWardFamily website and he has done quite a lot of research on the family! He has gone as far back as Thomas Ward who was born in1685.
I have also found out that we go back to generations of Wards who lived in the village of Crosby Ravensworth in East Cumbria.
If there are any other Wards who are in this family please contact me.
