I am very much interested in the Beresford's from Coatbridge family tree. I also know very little about my family as we never kept in touch. My father is * Beresford and he was born *. His father was Samuel Beresford and his mother died when he was a child and he has a sister called *. His father married again and they had

* Beresford
* Beresford
* Beresford

All of I believe still live in Coatbridge airdrie area. Can anyone confirm if my grandfather Samuel Beresford is related to the ones from Ireland?

Hi Dazredsetter,

I'm not too sure about Coatbridge ones...though at a funeral I attended I was told that I am. As i understand it, three brothers came over from Co Down. My GGGrandfather was called Samuel
I come from Glenmavis, and currently stay in Chapelhall. There are other Beresfords in Chapelhall too.

Like you, there's hardly anyone left to tell me much.

Soapy - there is defo a link to the Coatbridge ones....
dont have the docs to hand, and cant remember properly but I know a Samuel was in coatbridge with his wife, his wife was still alive 3/4 years ago and her daughter lived nearby. Samuel was on a couple of documents i had as witness at a wedding.
I need to get the docs i have onto the tree proper :/

I am pretty sure the Samuel you have found is my grandfather. I have a contact number for his wife, my step grandmother, and his son, my uncle.

Garry. you're too busy with that new wee Beresford. I know that your grandad's sister was at the funeral I attended a few years ago..she stayed in Whifflet at the time. My mum Betty was her cousin...and she did mention other Beresfords in Coatbridge, and one I knew, but didn't know was related. I'll PM you about that

(*) Beresford is my aunt I think. Does she have a brother called (*)?

(*) Details of living people (or people who could possible be still alive) must not be posted on the main open forum. Please use the PM service to discuss this type of detail. Thank you.

It would be better to discuss living relatives by PM (Personal Message) rather than on this thread- you should have enough posts to do so.
