Searching for Matthews

Hello,

 I am seeking information on my Great Uncle Ernest Matthews.  Ernest was born in 1893 in shoshone idaho and died in 1943. Ernest is buried in Sitka alaska in the military graveyard.
 Ernest was stationed in Haines Alaska at Fort William H. Seward in 1930 census and remained in the area (Skagway) Alaska.
 Ernest mother was born in Iowa and His Father was born in Kanas.

 Ernest married Catherine Lowe somewhere in Utah.
 Catherine came from North Carolina...

 Any suggestions?

Eleanor            wife, b. Mar 1858, married 12 yrs, mother of 7
                    children, 3 living, b. Iowa, Vermont, Indiana
Charles Spore, step-son, b. Sep 1877, b. Iowa, Illinois, Iowa
Ernest Matthews, son, b. Jan/Jun 1890



Looks like Edward J, the father, has married a Sophia by the 1910 census and is living in Coeur D'Alene, Kootenai, Idado.  They have a 1 yr old daughter.

Thank you both so much for your help. I found the 1900 census and also the birth certificate.

 It appears his parents were born in mutipul places. Or he didn't know where they were born!

 I plan to visit the Sitka cemetery and get a picture of his grave and the grave of his daughter. thank you.

I did check out that site however they only list 22 graves for Alaska total, which is why a friend and I are working on our town here.

 A quick update to info given... my entire clan here is very excited, my uncle Bud turns 87 tomorrow and never knew his grandfather/mother... he has searched for year. We are going to frame and send it to him for his birthday!
