This is the record of the first child of John and Jane:-

20 Jul 1854 WILSON MARY JANE

Father - JOHN WILSON
Mother - JANE WALKER
Frame Number - FR964
Parish - COLDSTREAM
GRO data Number - 733/00 0004

Christinas Birth is on Scotlandspeople as follows:-

Christina Wilson born December 25th 1855 at 3 am to John Wilson aged 23 years (a master baker) and Jane Wilson nee Walker aged 23 years and she was born in Morpeth. and this was their second child.

since the Morpeth connection that Liz found it looks good to try and get a something from the Parish records..

and here is the record number for the marriage of John and Jane

15 Jun 1853
WILSON JOHN
JANE WALKER
Frame Number - FR1012
COLDSTREAM
733/00 0004

I have found the images from the parish records to be wonderful to look at if at times a little hard to read... but worthwhile getting

Sorry could not help more

Best wishes

Mo

Hi Mo

Thank you for that further information. As you can see it is stated at the time of the birth in 1855 John Wilson was aged 23. This would make his dob 1832, which is what has been giving me doubts of the birth in 1830. Hence I thought apparently mistakenly there may be parents recorded on the marriage certificate in 1853 to see if I had the correct John Wilson. I do not want to pay £6 to see one certificate when it may be of little value.

As for Jane Walker, I have picked her at Morpeth, but unfortunately no record of a marriage between George Walker and Mary Brodrick at this location or any other nearby on IGI. So all at a bit of a brick wall at present.

However thank you once again for the information which gave some detail I was not aware of.

Cheers

Robert

Hi Robert,
Walter Wilson (of London & Liverpool) son of John Wilson born Coldstream and Jane born Morpeth is my great grandfather.

I wonder if you have progressed this line of research any further?
I wonder if you have come across the surname Smail which was Walter's middle name and I can only assume to be an ancestor's surname.

regards,
Ian

Hi Ian

I have had no joy at all in tracing a birth and christening for John Wilson! I was biding my time waiting for Coldstrem parish records to come online. Have you tried the parish records for Coldstream?

As for his wife Jane, I traced her details to 1832 Morpeth and got her parents but no further, again waiting in hope fpr records to come online.

Where do you hail from and live now?

regards Robert
