Cannot see a death in England or Wales for this chap on the Osterley.  The only William ATCHINSON death 1912-1930 is for a child in 1928, registered Eton. (from FreeBMD)

Shipping list information:

William ATCHINSON, 78, carpenter, last country of permanent residence: New Zealand.  Intended country of residence - British Possesion (my edit - perhaps intending to return to NZ?).  He was ticketed from Sydney to London.

Judith
DYER - Wilts, London, Somerset, MIDLANE - Hants, Wilts, SONE - Hants, WRIGHT - London, Hants, SEAGER - Deptford, DWYER, FERGUSON - Victoria, MASON - Woodford Vic, BALLARD - South Wales, GOULDBY - Lowestoft

Thanks - where did you find the marriage ?PAW

Indexes of BMD are available through the private resources of many on the Australian Board. As well others come from public online services.

The ATCHINSON bmd's in Victoria can all be provided upon request.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed information about William Clark Atchinson, born in Boston, Lincolnshire in 1830

There is another William Atchinson, born in Boston in 1837, who emigated to New Zealand and the went to America and then went back to NZ where he died in 1923. I thought that this might have been our William, but the dates do not match. The NZ William married in England in 1859, when we know that our William was definitely in Melbourne.

Of course our William Atchinson might have gone to New Zealand or anywhere else after 1870.

Possibly worth posting on the NZ board if you have not already done so.

The team there may be able to absolutely rule out the man there for you.

I feel it is important to assess  all you can, though I agree, the years do look incompatible ::)

William Clark Atchinson was my great grand-father. His daughter, Laura born in Melbourne, was my grand-mother. She married Richard Langford Keeble of Lincolnshire, and their youngest son, Lancelot Keeble, was my father.
Thank you for the research that you have done - it clears up some of the mystery surrounding William Clark.

A daughter of William Clarke and Bessie, Marian, died at sea en route to Australia. I have a locket in memory of her that belonged to Bessie - left to me by Muriel, oldest child of Richard Langford and Laura, also William Clarke's grand-daughter and my aunt.
