Clerk and draughtsman sounds a bit different to Iron Puddler.
I wonder if it is the same family or not ..who knows?

I found a birth of a henry ensall in wolverhampton again in 1843. WHich would make him 22. Possible!

If it is him henrys parents are ann and thomas ensell according to the census. Slight change in spelling is the only thing, but these things can alter over time.

Carol, I dont think that other one fits. maybe a different family... i'm just not sure!?!

We need to find what our three boys were registered as, and what name they used as children. Otherrwise we may go off on completely the wrong track, they may not have started life as Ensalls at at all.  Ensall may be the name of a step dad, or something.

Tho' that christening you found indicates some Ensall parents for Thomas - but what happens to that baby Thomas? where is he on the subsequent censuses?

I think if I were you, (which I am not!) I would like to see Williams marriage cert to see who he names as his father. Actually I'd really like to see Wm's, Thomas's and Joseph's, if I were made of money!

MUST go and get dinner now!

Are you still searching for Ensall's? My grandmother was Jane Ensall, born Wishaw, Scotland. Lived in Rochdale. Must be the same Jane you found. We knew they came from Wigan area, but nothing else.
