Update on Daly/Davin posting of 5/4/08
« Reply #1 on: Wednesday 27 August 08 04:57 BST (UK) »
Since my last posting I have received a photo of the Daly headstone.

Patrick Daly d 1875 aged 62yrs
his wife Elizabeth d 1903 aged 80yrs
his daughter Mary d 1903 aged60yrs
and his son Martin d1937 aged 71yrs.

The headstone was erected by a Bridget Behan.

Unfortunately, I don't know in which cemetery my ancestors are buried. Can someone please tell me where in Kilconla (kilconly), Kilshanvey the RC graveyard is located or are my ancestors likely to have been buried in another part of the parish?

hello- not sure if there is any relation or not, but my greaat-great grandfather, John Daly, lived in Banagher, County Galway during the 1850's, on though at least 1911. I believe his father was a Patrick Daly.

any chance there might be a connection?

Hello Steve and thanks for replying.

As yet, I am still no closer to sorting out the Daly's and unfortunately cannot tell you if there is a connection.

I have found (with the help of a wonderful person on Rootschat), that the mentioned grave in my post is in Kilconly RC Graveyard and has since had more names added to it including one of my great grandfather's siblings -Michael. The other sibling Patrick I have been unable to find definite information on.

Even the marriage record for Patrick Daly Sen. and wife Eliza Flanagan does not seem to exist.

My geography of the Galway townlands is pretty limited but as far as I am aware, Banagher,Milltown is a neighbouring townland of Kilconly--hopefully someone will tell me if this is incorrect so there is a possibility of a connection somewhere!

I'll keep a note of your John just in case a connection finally turns up.
