Hi My name is Kerry Frost.ne Marsden, Michael Marsden was my Great Great grandfather, I know he was born in Dublin abt 1920 I can't find anything back from him as his parents came up as not known, so I am trying to find out what Our Irish roots are he married Sarah Bartholomew from Brook near Ashford in Kent and they had Frederick my Great Grandfather, he married Ellen Pillbeam, and they were my Grandfathers parents, His name was Alexander James Marsden and he was an upholsterer as was my Father Kenneth, Grandad was born in Lewis and Dad was born in Battersea but my grandparents came to live in Whitstable Kent in the 1940's and the family have been here ever since. I would really appreciate any help that I can get on this. And if you are a relation I would love to hear from you..It seems that the upholster trade came from the fact that the Irish relatives were all coach trimmers, I have found a record of Michael Marsden in 1877, he was working for the Brighton railway as a coach trimmer aged 60.

Hi
I'm looking for: Starting with the father:
Edward Marsden abt 1791 - Wife unknown
Children: Michael & Benjamin abt 1819 twins - Rosanna abt 1820, Thomas abt 1821, Alexander abt 1822, Edward  abt 1823,
All of the above males were Coach Trimmers, Coach Builders, Coach Painters etc.... They at some time or another left Dublin for Kent to work on the newly founded railways - New Town, Brighton.

Michael on the 1841 census was with Eliza Marsden of the same age 20yrs born Ireland, Eliza passed away by 1851 census leaving Michael and their or her child Ann.
Michael went on to marry Sarah Bartholomew in Willesborough Kent England, they were not the only Marsdens to settle from this family in Dublin to Kent. Some including Thomas marsden settled in Australia again working ON the railways...
Any help would be much appreciated.. - I have little info for Dublin except the following from 2 of the brothers (Sons of Edward & Unknown):

Benj Marsden
26 harrington  street
St peters parish
South side

Edward Marsden
5 kevins st.lower
St peters parish

Many Thanks
Joanne Marsden   (*)

Hi my name is Kerry and I am decended from Michael Marsden who was Rosanna's brother, it seems that Rosanna came to England during the potato famine in Ireland, she shows up in vine court, Lancashire with her other Brother Benjamin (Michaels twin)  in 1841, it seems that she married Thomas who has the same name as her father and must have been a cousin, he was also a coach trimmer.  I am decended from Michaels son Fredrick, it would be nice to hear from you and I will share any information I find.....Kerry

Given that Marsden was an uncommon name, this would look like a good chance for the marriage of Edward and Ann, even if it would have been a mixed RC/CoI marriage:

Hello Joanne,
I have 7 pages of Marsden family chart information all from public sources and linked to Michael Marsden. I completed this a couple of years ago for my wife's aunt who was a Marsden.
I am happy to share this with you and Kerry and difromoz of family circles freely.
However I do not know how to transfer a typed document.
I am not that computer savy.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Joanne,
Thank you for your very prompt reply.
No need to worry about any cost I have offered freely and I mean it as it may not be what you expect
I see that a PM ( what ever that is) allows email address etc so assume that you will give me your preference via this means? I can email documents I think in word or something else.
Not sure I will see the PM as I am new to this and have to post  three times before I can use.
Not sure if a reply is a post? It has taken me 2 years to get to this point, then some one else helped me and then the site finally found that your messages was locked. Now unlocked but do not know for how long.
Could you please do me a favor contact your cousin Kerry Frost of Whitstable ( kezz) and offer a copy as well to her from me. If you manage to get her could you ask Kerry to contact your other cousin
Difromoz in Mitchell's Island NSW Australia via the site called family tree circles. I am willing to send a copy to her as well.
I hope you will not be disappointed in my efforts when you receive it.
In the mean time look forward to further communications.

Hello Again Joanne,
About an hour ago I sent an email to you with my efforts as an attachment in word.
If you need it in another form, just let me know.
You may need to check spam if cannot find it.
Let me know if it has arrived, in case I need to have another go.
All the best in your gathering of closer family information.

Hi Marsden cousins,
Thomas Marsden and Rosanna nee Marsden are my ancestors. I would love to find a way to share and, hopefully, contribute to the discussion regarding the Marsdens of Ireland.
Not sure how to go about it as it is my understanding that e-mail addresses are blocked on this list.
