Well and truly stumped

I'm trying to find the Parents of Emily Shephard.

The facts that I know about her are that she married Alfred Burrows on the 11/2/1906 in St.Pancras they were both living at 19 Barclay Street, St.Pancras, London,on the Marriage certificate her Fathers name is Charles his occupation is Costermonger her age is 21 the witnesses are a sister and friend of Alfred.

On the 1911 census they are living at 17 Barclay Street Emily's age is 25 her place of birth is Islington.

When she dies in 1971 her date of birth is recorded as 19/12/1884.

I have been unable to find a an exact birth certificate for her, or to find her on the 1891 or 1901 census with her parents.

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

On the assumption the family was in St Pancras (or nearby) when she was born, have you considered this Emily Shepherd on the freebmd?

With a birth date of 19th December the registration would most likely have been entered in the  first quarter of 1885. 
There were two Emily's in this quarter and if you click on the registration district for this Emily it shows Hampstead took over part of Camden/St Pancras.

When the Family Records were at Myddelton Street I asked for this birth plus another one of a Emily Catherine Shepherd registered in Islington at the same time but with the checking points of 19/12/1884 was the date of birth and the Fathers name was Charles the sheet was returned with crosses through both checking points.

The age is out, but might not be accurate.

The other point to consider is that she is illegitimate and has made up a father for the marriage cert. I had an ancestor who did this. She used her step father's first name and added it to her maiden name to create 'dad'!

Dates at death are notoriously unreliable - if  either 1901 census just given or her age in 1911 are correct you need to be looking for a bit wider range for a birth.

I had seen the family living in Stoke Newington before but was not sure as I had not heard of any of the other names listed.

Perhaps the illegitimacy aspect is something to consider and see if I can find Emily just with her mother in the 1891 and 1901 census.

You didn't give the sister's name!  Could you trace the parents through her birth certificate?

On the other hand, if you assume that the father's name on the m.c. is correct 1881 CR has a Charles H. Shephard born St Pancras (50) Cab Driver - wife Mary A (47) born Islington
two daughters - Rose E (2) & Mary A M (5 m) both born Islington.

FreeBMD shows Charles Henry Shephard married June 1/4 1877 St Pancras and on same page a Mary A James.
The girls were registered Islington Rose Emily Sep. 1/4 1878 & Mary A M Dec.1/4 1880.
Going on from that - June 1/4 1882 Emily Mason Shephard!

Age on death isn't reliable, depends on who is registering the event.  In my family a son got his mother's year of birth wrong because he hadn't allowed for the fact that she died before her birthday. So he was 1 year out AND he put it on her memorial!

Not sure what you mean by sister?  If you mean the section where I was talking about ordering birth certificates this, I assume, was 2 different families, one registering their child in Hampstead and the other in Islington.

Your information does give me more food for thought though.
