1911 Census.
« on: Friday 25 March 11 22:38 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know when the last column on the right hand side of the 1911 census forms will be "unveiled"?

I don't think I've seen any mention on it anywhere and I thought it should be after the 100 years has elapsed, so I'm hoping it will be any day soon.

Best wishes HL

Thanks CaroleW

That's 101 years, someone moved the goalposts!

Never mind only a year to wait to solve another mystery :)

The '100 year rule' didn't come in until 1921.  The release date for the 1911 census was entirely at the discretion of the government.

Thanks nick, didn't know that.

Then the 1921 census was destroyed in the war I seem to remember reading?

Thank you Carol, that's brilliant.

I was wrong about the 1921 census. So we can look forward to reading that in the very very distant future!

It was the 1931 census  which is damaged and it was fire damage in 1942 not war damage.

Yep that's right.  And there was no census in 1941, so the one after 1921 will be 1951  :o

I doubt if I will see that one - I was born in 1948  :)
