Poland: Tekla Derz
« on: Thursday 24 March 11 15:22 GMT (UK) »
I have just received a birth certificate from Poland (after much searching) for my father Wladyslaw Derz born 19th Dec 1927 in Smolno, Puck, died in England in 1995.  His mother's name is given as Tekla Derz (maiden name Derz) and her address is given as Zelistrzewo, which is nearby.  If anyone can suggest where I can go from here, to find out more about Tekla and hopefully Wladyslaw's father, I would be really grateful.
We have always been led to believe that his father was Graf Willhelm August von Belau.
Kind regards.

Hello,

There are 15 people with the name Derz in Poland. They all live in the same area: Wejherowo, Puck, Gdansk.

There is at least one person on Facebook with the same name and coming from Poland.

I give this info because it's on the web and may help in some way.

Thank you very much for your reply and for the information.    Can you tell me where you found the Derz names?  Were they from an online phone book?  If so, how can I access this?

I have tested this with my family and it's pretty much up to date.

Thank you for the link to the map and the website.

It makes interesting reading, especially as it specifically highlights the areas we know Tekla was living, in pre-war Poland.

We began to unravel her story when we noticed the name of the photographer who had taken one of the only two photogrpahs we have of her.

Both were taken in places you mention as being a high concentration for the name Derz.   An earlier one was taken in Gdynia and the later in Wejherowo, by W Engler about whom we have read enough to try and understand what was happening in the area at the time she was possibly living there.

Thank you again for your interest and assistance.
Kind regards.
