Hall and Ellis marriage at Hever
« on: Wednesday 23 March 11 14:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I’m trying to find the parents of John Hall (c. 1772 - c. 1838) and Ann Ellis (c. 1783 - died before 1861) who were married in Hever April 10th 1800.

I’ve been looking through the transcripts of Hever baptisms, marriages and burials on line at:

http://theweald.org/bk.asp?bookid=HeverPR000&xid=H&xnm=1

and there seems to be no appearances of either surname prior to their marriage date (except for a John Hall who died in 1798).

I’ve subsequently found their children who were all born in Hever.

What interests me is that in the marriage entry for John and Ann it says:
John Hall = Ann Ellis, minor (licence) with consent of parents.

Could anyone suggest where else I could look? Would a “licence” be written down anywhere?

Thanks for any help
