Hi

To lookup a marriage in the parish records - you need to supply details of which church it took place in

These are the areas covered by Truro RD - including St Clement

http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/truro.html

James D Webb was b 1851 Truro as per freebmd

freebmd has a death in June qtr 1900 for Mary Jane Webb aged 42

James didn't let the grass grow did he - he re-married in September qtr 1900

James Father was JAMES, Occp Photographer

Mary Jane WEBB , Death Reg, June 1894, Truro, 5c 100, age 44

I'm also interested in this chap.
My great great Grandmother was Mary Jane Penhaligon (nee Davey) It seems she married James Dawson Webb in 1900. Her first husband Samuel Penhaligon died in 1892.
I have found their marriage

County   Cornwall
Place   Truro
Church   St. Paul
RegisterNumber   473
MarriageDate   22 Sep 1900
GroomForename   James Dawson
GroomSurname   WEBB
GroomAge   52
GroomParish   St Pauls Truro
GroomCondition   Widower
GroomOccupation   Packer
GroomAbode   Rosewin Row
BrideForename   Jane
BrideSurname   PENHALIGON
BrideAge   42
BrideParish   St Pauls Truro
BrideCondition   Widow
BrideOccupation
BrideAbode   Roseview Row
GroomFatherForename   James Dawson
GroomFatherSurname   WEBB
GroomFatherOccupation   Actor
BrideFatherForename   Robert
BrideFatherSurname   DAVEY
BrideFatherOccupation   Butcher
WitnessOneForename   Clara
WitnessOneSurname   PASCOE
WitnessTwoForename   Henry
WitnessTwoSurname   BEHENNA
Notes
FileNumber   7278

And I found the a newspaper report of a James Dawson Webb who died in 1927 in Gunnislake.

As everybody else has found he seems to be a difficult one to track down. His date of birth seems to change more often than his wives.

James Dawson Webb was born 1851 (December quarter) - as has been suggested earlier, he was the illegitimate son of a Maria Webb and not baptised until 11th January 1854 Truro i.e. the father he names as James Webb when he married was fabricated.   His fatber may have been named James but more likely to have been a 'Dawson' since this was given as his second name.

Now that IS interesting, so as far back as 1841 there was a Penhaligon connection.
