Hi all, I am stuck trying to find the parents of my grandmother. Her name was Charlotte Jane Bateman and she was born on the 16th DEC 1903 Bristol, Gloucester shire, England. She married Sidney Gibbs in June 1926 also in Bristol. She died July 1987.
I believe her father was Charles Bateman born 1866 but have no clue who her mother was.
Any help would be appreciated
Regards Mick

Hi

Have you looked for her on the 1911 census?

http://www.1911census.co.uk/

You cannot request a search of the 1911 census, at present on Rootschat, but with the information from that census Rootschatters can help you search further. Or you might need to obtain a copy of her birth certificate if the 1911 census doesn't prove informative.

You have posted on the London and Middlesex board. Would you like me to move your topic to the Gloucestershire board?

Hi
 Birth Reg

Charlotte Jane Bateman
Bristol 6a 84
March quarter 1904

This would give her father's name.

If you use the free search of the 1911 there is no Charlotte Jane Bateman born 1904. However there is a Jane Bateman 1904 Bristol Gloucester.

Using the instructions below produces more than one family but the name Charles Bateman is not shown

However - freebmd does not have an entry for a Jane Bateman birth 1903-1904 which makes the 1911 entry a possibility

You really need to buy a copy of her birth cert

USING THE FREE 1911 INDEX TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT HOUSEHOLD

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx

Once you find a possible match - make a note of the county and district in which the person was living

Return to the index and in PERSONAL DETAILS - just put the surname of the family - nothing else

In LOCATION - Select the county and below it - type in the district

In OTHER MEMBERS OF THE HOUSEHOLD - show the full name of the person you have found on the index

Click SEARCH

You will have to buy credits to view the full entry - the above instructions will only help to possibly show others of the same name in the same household

Hi Valda.
the reason i posted on the london board was because my aunty who lives in bristol seems to recall that her mothers family had moved from london to bristol around 1900. I would be happy if you moved my post anywhere as all information i can gather will obviuosly be great.

Hi

I think if you find out some more information either from Charlotte's birth certificate and or the 1911 census and post again we can see where the further information takes the Bateman line and whether the topic should stay on the London board or go to Gloucestershire.
