Good evening
The marriage that CaroleW refers to is that of
James Lewis
AND Elizabeth Lloyd
Married 3/7/1897 at Begelly church (a few miles south of Narberth but in Narberth reg. district)
Following details from parish church marriage register:
James Lewis, bachelor, aged 22 of Sardis Mountain, St Issells parish, collier, son of James Lewis, groom
Elizabeth Lloyd, spinster, aged 21 of Begelly parish, daughter of Thomas Lloyd, collier
Witnesses: George Thomas and Mary Lloyd
Interesting that they appear to have had a son baptised at St Issells church 1/1/1901 called Thomas James Lewis! Father's occupation collier, residence Harrys Tump, St Issells parish.
There are a further two baptisms against these parents as follows in the St Iissells parish register both on 25/8/1907:
Lily May Lewis and
William John Lewis.
Father still a collier but family now resident in Glamorgan. It was not unusual for families who'd migrated from their native parish in Pembrokeshire to return and have their children baptised in the local church.
Hope that tallies with what you know.
Jon
