Have you come across the story of Harriet daughter of John III? She eloped to the US with Castleblunden gardener James Egan. Disowned by the family and written out of history. An elderly american Lady Harriet Egan contacted Castleblunden in the 1960s to reveal the story to a curious Sir William and Lady Pamela.

Yep, I have read about that in a book about the Blundens. Amazing how they could write somebody out of history. Something like that appears to have been done to my gggrrand mother Rose Blunden who again eloped at a young age around 1817.

Hi Noller, what is the name of the book? I'd love to read it.

Hi Lee Blunden

In case you haven’t noticed, Noller hasn’t been on this website for the last three months.  Hopefully they will return again.

Hi LH,

Thank you for your message.  Noller has actually replied to me via a private message.

Incidentally, I am the LeeanneB who started this thread in 2011, and I haven't been active on the site since 2013.  I've long since forgotten all log-in details and so re-registered with LeeBlunden. So there's always a chance that someone will answer, even 11 years down the line  ;D

Retrospections, a book by Dorothea Herbert. A must read for any Blunden descendant.

Yes! I've been trying to get a copy for years, but have had no luck finding it in any of my local libraries.  I have seen it for sale online, but the price is a bit steep - I'll keep looking out though  :)
