We have nothing on Martin (born 1815 in County Clare )or Bridget after they landed. This has been a bugbear for some years, so if any chatters can help I'd be extremely thankful

Do you have Martin's parents names?

Sorry no.   I only know his approx age from shipping records
and led me to believe he would have been born in 1815 and had been married to Kate Clancy but she didn't come out with him. His daughter Ann must have lived in Geelong before she married and her first 2 children were born here too, then they moved to Colac but Martin and Bridget must have lived here for some years but I have found no trace of either of them. What makes for comfusion is that one of Ann's sons (William ) is buried in Eastern Cemetery Geelong alongside  a Julia Fuller who lived at the same boarding house with William. There is a Bridget Morony marr to Ralph Fuller but I can't connect Julia with them. This is one time the more you dig the more confusing it gets. It doesn't help that my husbands family wouldn't talk about ancestors.

Hi Appingirl,

There is an online Will/Probate listing other family members for Catherine Moroney that died on 19 October 1923, Koroit, age 36, Reg#15428.  Catherine was the wife of Michael Joseph Moroney and the daughter of John Ryan and Ellen McCarthy.

Cheers,

Janet.

Hi Appingirl      Thank you for trying but I'm beginning to think this is a hopeless cause.  Did you know there is a Martin Morony buried in front of the Catholic Chapel in the old section of East Cememtery in Geelong Unfortunately it is not mine          Val

Hi looking for Moroney namely Bridget Dennis Mary and a younger Dennis. Their parents were Michael Moroney and Mary Quinlan from Limerick.
Or any other families in the Koroit district.
Thank You

Hi Appingirl. I am a Mahoney from Coragulac/Cororooke and have relatives in Maffra. My great grandmother came from Tower Hill/Koroit. My Grandfather, Maurice Mahoney, was born in 1875. My grandmother Bridget was born in 1889. I am fairly sure her mother was Bridget Moroney. I can check. But I don't think they came to Cororooke so early. Jeremiah is a real family name for us. Perhaps you are related to my grandfather's brother's family. The branch in Maffra/Heyfield are certainly from my grandfather's brother. cheers

I have nothing on Martin's family except what I've already said.  We can't even find a death for him. There have been a couple of marriages  for a Martin, but the dates don't tally nor where he came from. We found a Bridget married to a Ralph Fuller that doesn't tally either but a son of Ann (her sister) is buried with a Julia Fuller that I can't match into the family which makes things very confusing.

I am also looking for information about Michael Moroney and Mary Quinlan of  Thurles, Limerick, daughter Mary, married Thomas Ryan in 1862. Mary later emigrated to Brisbane following children who had already gone there. When Thomas died in 1895 she followed them bringing younger ones with here.   I think Bridget must be Mary's sister?  I think too that Mary's siblings or cousins may well have emigrated to Australia but not sure where..

Is that any help to anyone?
