Hi everyone
I have only just come back on line so apologies for the delay in info. I live in Llantwit Fardre and my parents are standing in the doorway of St Illtyds Church in my profile photo. This looks out onto the old Colliers Arms pub and the old Trallwm Inn, both of these have been built on and are now Ardwyn House, as previously mention and Twyn y Waun. I happen to have a copy of a book called 'Under the Parish Lantern' by my childrens old headmaster Dillwyn Lewis, which has lots of old photographs of the area, the people and various other events etc going back a long long time. It is now out of print but you may be able to get a copy from your library, its worth asking.
I have been involved in a BBC programme recorded this week regarding the Coronation celebrations to be held in June. They found some cine footage of a Coronation party held in Llantwit Fardre at the local bus depot of SA Bebb, the footage was so good most of the people were recognised and most of them came to the Bush Inn to give their thoughts on the day. It was a great reunion, everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
I was especially thrilled because my family had run this public house since 1881 until 1967. I have been so taken with this project and have put together various family trees of the old families living here ie: Smith, Jenkins, Williams, Johns, Pearce..... to name a few. I am hoping to compile a story book of the area for future reference and some of the regulars in the pub will possibly be of great help.
I have tried to download a couple of photos but no luck as yet, will try again soon.
Regards
