Cameron/Service - Ballymena, Co. Antrim
« on: Wednesday 16 March 11 12:27 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information about my gg-grandmother, Mary Cameron, who was born about 1806 in Ballymena, Antrim, Ireland. Mary Cameron married Robert Service (b. 1805) from the same area. They had two children John (b. 1830) and Elizabeth (b. 1832). In 1838, they emigrated to America aboard the US ship "Star of New York" that sailed from Liverpool to New York... arriving on July 18, 1838. During the voyage, Mary Cameron gave birth to their third child, James Star Service, on July 5, 1838. I have a letter written by the captain of the Star verifying James birth and stating that since he was born under an American flag on an American ship... he was entitled to full privileges of a native American.

Once in America, Robert, Mary, John, Elizabeth & infant James joined Robert Service's brother, James, also born in Ballymena, Antrim, Ireland 1798 and his wife, Margaret Wilson, born Nov 25 1795 in Ballymena, Antrim, Ireland. James & Margaret had emigrated in 1825 though Charleston, South Carolina to Union District, South Carolina.

Any help or information on any of these relations would be most appreciated,

George
Bell (Fermanagh, Ire), Cameron (Antrim, Ire), Devlin (Tyrone, Ire), Gaston (Antrim, Ire) McKell (Armagh, Ire), Muse "Mewes", Service (Antrim, Ire), Wilson (Antrim, Ire)

Hi

Sent you a PM with details.

It looks like they were from Rashee near Ballyeaston not Ballymena.
