Please don't go to a lot of effort as I don't have an exact date but I'm wondering if there's a baptism for a Mary Lees in Wellington abt 1786-9,she doesn't show up on the IGI but then not all Parish Register entries do  :-\ Thank you

I expect you have got enough to look up but just in case you get time:

The marriage of Thomas Green and Mary Jones 9 Feb 1835 St. Martins Shropshire.

Also two births if possible.
Ann Stokes 9 Sept 1765 Neen Savage
Elizabeth Stokes 12 Oct 1766 Neen Savage.

Thanks Lloydy

LLoydy
forget what I said above. If you have time for just one look up, could it be this one:

Marriage between David Jones and Elizabeth Stokes 31 Dec 1792 Cleobury Mortimer,Hopton Wafers Parish register.
I'd like to know if they name the parents.
Don't worry if you don't have time.

Hi Lloydy

Thank you for your kind offer. I'm at the end of a long list but if you do have time to squeeze another search in that would be wonderful.

I have a James Lloyd marrying a Mary Chilton on the 23 Jul 1752 in Wroxeter. This makes them both in their 30s, which is a bit old for those days, so I'd like to just verify I have the correct details. I'm hoping there might be reference to their ages or state whether they are widowed at the time of marriage. Also hoping to shed some light on parentage. I have, very tentatively, James' parents as Francis Lloyd & Ann ? but nothing for Mary's parents.

Many thanks
Deb

Sorry to see you are unable to go to the records office today. I do hope you're ok.
Just had a thought re. parentage of Henry Abbots on my previous request. If Henry was illegitimate he wouldnt be entered with that surname. As Henry is a fairly unusual name I would be interested if any other Henrys appear around 1823. Perhaps his mother married an Abbots later...just a thought. Many many thanks.

Any chance that you will visit Archives. I e-mailed Shropshire Archives and there response "They stated that they can only give 10 min. per q. and they could find no William Woodroofe".  Quarter Session Database - 1838 Session and a calendar for Shrewesbury gaol".  I don't understand why his trial cannot be found as his name was listed in the Gazette see below.

I have been given a date for William Woodroofe's trial , late of Broseley, Salop, Excise
Officer that was posted in the London Gazette 27 July 1838. Issue No. 19640 of which I would like to get a copy of actual trial.  I e-mailed Shrewesbury Archives and they checked Quarter Session database / 1838 sessions, also the calendar of prisoners at Shrewesbury gaol and found no entries for Wm.

Some who were charged at the same time under Insolvent Debtor- Dividend,  were told to be at Petersborough on the 31st of August next but Wm. Woodroofe's name was not among them.  Any suggestions as to where I could look for this trial. He was apparently let out of gaol early because of a new law that was enacted.   Thank you.  Lookin

Lookin........I checked the Shropshire Quarter Sessions database and William wasn't there.  I even checked alternative spellings of the surname, just in case.

Sorry I couldn't have been more help.

I'd be grateful if you could check a Market Drayton burial for me.

The new Family Search site has Mary Simon buried 3 March 1821 in Market Drayton. Is there any additional information given?

I'm wondering if she might be my 3xgreat grandmother who had an illegitimate daughter (Elizabeth Simon) baptised in Moreton Say in 1816 but then disappears into the ancestral fog!!

Jill........There was no other information on the burial record, just "as is":-

March 3rd 1821
Mary Simon Age 35
Abode: Drayton
JP Stubbs: performed ceremony

Would be grateful for a look up of a marriage in Kinlet Shrops 21 Dec 1794 between George Aschroft b abt 1769 - Surveyor and Elizabeth Evans b ?? -  the record on the old site at family search is submitted and I cannot find it on the new site at all. Therefore, if time allows would you be able to confirm these details?

The transcript of the Kinlet Parish Registers, published by the Shropshire Parish Records Society, has the marriage;

21 Dec 1794 George ASHCROFT and Elizabeth EVANS, by lic. Witness Robert MONK and Elizth. POWNEY.

Regards,
Gwynne

Z......I'd forgotten that Gwynne had already provided the answer for this :-[ but I checked it anyway.  Exactly as above, the only extra information was both George and Elizabeth signed their mark "X", and the vicar was Edward Northey!
