LloydyAny chance that you will visit Archives. I e-mailed Shropshire Archives and there response "They stated that they can only give 10 min. per q. and they could find no William Woodroofe". Quarter Session Database - 1838 Session and a calendar for Shrewesbury gaol". I don't understand why his trial cannot be found as his name was listed in the Gazette see below. I have been given a date for William Woodroofe's trial , late of Broseley, Salop, Excise Officer that was posted in the London Gazette 27 July 1838. Issue No. 19640 of which I would like to get a copy of actual trial. I e-mailed Shrewesbury Archives and they checked Quarter Session database / 1838 sessions, also the calendar of prisoners at Shrewesbury gaol and found no entries for Wm.Some who were charged at the same time under Insolvent Debtor- Dividend, were told to be at Petersborough on the 31st of August next but Wm. Woodroofe's name was not among them. Any suggestions as to where I could look for this trial. He was apparently let out of gaol early because of a new law that was enacted. Thank you. Lookin
