Scarborough c1957?

Help required to identify the place in this photograph. I think it may have been on a family holiday around 1956 - 1959.

Hi Manick,

It looked very familiar to me (I had many hols in Scarborough when I was young) and I remember the zig-zag path down to the North promenade.

If you have a look at "Royal Albert Drive Scarborough" on google maps, you can get "Street View" and what looks to me like the very spot the photo was taken from (fence still there too!)

Tried to do a link, but it wouldn't work.

Your correct .. it is the Royal Albert  Drive.
It is amazing to see that the same timber post fencing is still there after all these years.
I use to live in Scarborough for 21 years before heading out into the wide world :-))

Scarborough is in North Yorkshire...Not East Yorkshire ;)

Hi,
I am interested in the " Edinburgh Shop ".
You mentioned it was a family photo.
My great grandfather was James T Mearns the draper.
His daughter Isabella was my grandmother.
Would be delighted to hear from you.
Jacqui.

Hi Jacqui
The photo was in a batch from my cousin. None of us knew where the shop was, or why it was in our collection.
However, our grandfathers Walter & John Lawrie were tailors and outfitters. They traded as Lawrie & Wilkie, first in Picardy place, then at 10 Union Street, both Edinburgh. Other members of the family served in the shop.
Regards
