Why, thank you!  I will check it out right away.
Would anyone know if the addresses of 20 Bertha Crescent and 24 Bertha Mount were owned or rented?
If owned, are there deeds available to research?

Hi Mary

I've found some burials of Nallans in Leeds.

Bridget Nallan age 69, buried 1896
Bridget Nallan, age 87, buried 1924, of 20 Bertha Crescent. (there is a photo of the headstone for this grave)
Both of these were buried in Leeds Catholic Cemetery in Killingbeck, Leeds.

John Nallan, child, buried 1865 in Beckett Street Cemetery.

I got this information from the Yorkshire Indexers website http://www.yorkshireindexers.co.uk.  You have to pay a subscription to see the records though, but it doesn't cost a lot.

You can check out your family births, marriages and deaths at www.freebmd.org.uk , or at www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk which also gives you the church or registry office where they were married. There are quite a lot of Nallans for you to see!

Hi Everyone,
I want to thank all of you for such great information.  I appreciate all of it.  Thank you for taking the time to look up my family.  There were 10 children to this family, so there are a lot of Nallans.  The more I dig, the more I feel that I won't be meeting any cousins when I go.  It seems the two families that stayed in Leeds gave me that possibility.  But, the Roberts only had two children, with Mary dying before the age of 10...and the son dying in WWII.  With the Morans, I thought I would have more luck.  But it seems that Nellie who married John James Dixon was my only bet.  With the info given to me about the 1937 electoral it seems that three children are still living with Margaret Roberts....not married?  Maybe I could continue on the Dixon line.  Then, there is one more son, John, Moran that I do  not know what happens to him.  So, the search continues.  But it is never ending, is it?

Hi Again Mary.......

I have found your Nellie Dixon and her husband, living at 24, Gledhow Terrace, Burmantofts in 1937. People under the age of 21 are not listed, as they are not able to vote.

Are you Missing a Charles Nallon ? He was the son Charles and Harriet , and born 1905 Leeds.

He married a Carolina Burke in 1928, and had two sons, one of them appears to be still alive and  living in Leeds ( I will pass on details in a PM , if you think he is "Yours"

In 1937 Charles and Carolina were living at 16 Aysgarth Road, Osmondthorpe

Also at 22 Ivy Street are John, Jane and Harriet Nallon. I think this is possibly Charles mother, Harriet, and his brother and sister......

John Moran , may be tricky to find, I am afraid, quite a common name in Leeds. Do you have his date of birth ?

Hi,
I see John Moran was born in 1903 to Edward and Nellie.  He might have gone to America.
Thank you for finding Nellie, his sister, and her husband John James Dixon.  John James dies in 1942 living at Firbank Halton.  Is that near Gledhow Terrace?
I can't find Nellie's grave.  Maybe she remarried.  Or maybe went to America.
I just found another relative, Catherine Byron who married John Walls and she died in 1928.  But I can't find her or her husband on a 1891 or 1901 census.  But I did received today a marriage entry in the St. Anne's Church for my GGgrandparent's.  It states who  their parents were and if they were living.  I am trying to located Martin Byron marrying a Catherine McGorman or McGowan before 1854.  They have two children Martin and Catherine.  Martin is my direct.  his wife had died before (I am assuming) he came to Leeds in 1848ish....with his 3 daughters.  He then remarries and has the two children.  If I can locate when Martin Byron married, maybe I can get the Church entry to tell me where he came from.

So much researching.

Another case of mistranscription I think ...

Martin BARRAN to Kitty McGowan at St Peter's, Leeds. June qtr 1851 / vol 23 page 415

Catherine Byron married John Walls 1887 at the Registered Building, Wetherby . John died in 1889 age 44 at Leeds....

I cannot find Catherine on the 1891 census, but here she is in 1901

Huby Lane, Weeton ......

Kate Walls / widow / age 43 / Charwoman / born Leeds
Ellen Walls / daughter / age 12 / born Huby, Weeton

Huby is almost the next village to me !! About 5 minutes drive. This is where Catherine's parents lived too......

Ellen Walls married 1906 / Dec qtr / Leeds / vol 9b page 963 / groom James Danby.

They appear to have had only one child, Winifred, in 1909.

In 1937, they were living at 3 Barnet Place Wortley
