Dunn family Liverpool
« on: Sunday 13 March 11 00:55 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I'm researching my mothers family named Dunn from Liverpool.  My mother was Margaret Ann Dunn, born 1900,  her mother was Isabella Dunn born 1879.  It seems that Isabella may never have married so finding grandad is challenging.  Isabella's parents were Maurice Dunn and Ellen (nee Jordan) Dunn born 1840 and 1845 respectively, they were married in St Peters church Liverpool in Dec 1863.  Their children were Margaret 1864, Maurice 1866, Ellen 1872, Isabella 1879 and Patrick 1880.  The marriage cert shows Maurice's father as Terence Dunn, and Ellen's father as Patrick Jordan.  Terence  was probably born c1800-1820, this is as far back as I have got at the moment.  Does anybody else happen to be researching Liverpool Dunns?

Rgds
Pete

The 1861 census shows Maurice as 20 b Liverpool and widowed mother Mary aged 50 b Ireland.  Address was Thomas St

RG9 Piece 2672 Folio 59 Page 22

There is no death for a Terence Dunn on freebmd between 1840-1861

There is no Terence Dunn marriage between 1837-1840

There is no Terence Dunn on the 1841/51 census but I found a Terris Dunn aged 25 b Ireland  living in Poulton Le Fylde - no other Dunn's with him

Many thanks Carole!

I suspected this was going to be a challenge.  It had crossed my mind that Terence could have been born in Ireland.  In my searches I have come across a lot of Dunn's born in Ireland, but up to now I have discounted them. With the info that his wife Mary was born in Ireland, that's my next target.  As it happens, my dads side of the family are Irish and relocated to Liverpool in the early 1900's.

Thanks again!
