I have a John Flanagan married to a great Aunt of mine (Margaret Martin) who joined up in 1916 but he is listed as age 30, which is too old for this picture. he was in the Royal Irish Rifles his number was 5473,
if you had time to look at his record on Ancestry I would love your opinion on what happened to him, there are 39 images and from what I can see he was absent from camp from 12.30 at night until 5.30 the next morning and he seems to have got 42 days, then the next set of records he is in HMP Leicester, they wouldn't have sent him to prison for being missing for 5 hours would they?? I wondered did he desert? thanks
