Braamfontein Cemetery

Good afternoon,
I wonder can you help me. I am trying to find the final resting place of Francis V.T. McDonald originally from Belfast....as the closest cemetery to his place of death 7 July 1932 is Braamfontein Cemetery I wonder would it be possible to ask anyone on the forum for a look up to see if there is a record of his burial at this cemetery?

I really hope that this isnt too much of an ask!

I have checked the online cemeteries listings in JHB with no success. he is not on my CD either but there is a new cemetery CD coming out soon.

wow...thats was quick...really appreciate the look up....just found out today that he left Belfast as an officer in the British army from a really upperclass family and ended his days at 95 Wolmarans Street in JHB.

Hope this is not too late but  I found the following entry in the Brixton Cemetery (Johannesburg) Register Book:

Francis V T McDonald (Male)
Age:45
Buried: 08 July 1932
Section: EC (English Church/Anglican)
Grave No: 10977
Private (meaning there is probably a Grave/Head stone)

By 1910 Braamfontein Cemetery was rapidly filling up and so by 1912 a New Cemetery was laid out  about 2km up the road, named Brixton and this then became the main cemetery in Johannesburg for a while.

that's fantastic....through this forum I managed to get a pic of the memorial marker. Can anyone suggest a way I can order his death certificate to see his cause of death?

Personallly I think the easiest way would be to order the films "Transvaal Civil Records" at your local Family History centre (LDS). Unfortunately the films cover the entire Transvaal, but easier than going via The Department of Home Affairs!
