Good to hear from you, Lydiaann. I'm researching Archibald MacG, born 1824 in K and K, son of Alexander, ag lab, and Catherine MacG, both born around 1775. I've found them all in 1841, and the parents in 1851. All of them were in Shiaba in K and K parish. Archie and his bride emigrated to Canada in 1843, and I'm hoping to find out why they left - it was before the horrors of Highland potato blight and clearance. He left his parents and younger brother Malcolm, ag lab, on Mull. Old Alex was a pauper by 1861. Malcolm had to leave Shiaba and become a shepherd, after Clearance. I've been reading about Shiaba and found some great photos of the ruins. It's a world heritage site now, and I'd love to go there. Old Alex was one of those who signed a plea to the Duke of Argyll not to evict the villagers, but it made no difference.
What's the back story with your MacGs?
