Hi Mary Ellen

I don't know if these are your relations but Bent Cemetery Burial records 1853-1949 show the following:

Barclay, Margaret Steel (sic), died 25 April 1869, burial 28 April 1869, Wife of William Barclay, Ferniegair

Thomson, Margaret Steel (sic), age 65, died 26 August 1873, burial 30 August 1873, relict of Dr. Thomson, Wishaw

Barclay, Samuel, burial 19 May 1875, Ferniegair

Barclay, Mary, 60, burial 16 October 1865, Paton's Land, Ferniegair

Barclay, Mary, died 22 April 1872, burial 25 April 1872, Widow of J. McKinlay, Mason, Almada Street

Cheers,

Rodeo

Thanks very much, Rodeo, for remembering my Margaret Steele Barclay Thomson.  My great-grandmother by that name died in 1904, but I am going to follow up on these individuals since I have not had much luck with further details on her family.  Your first entry could be her parents.  Also, she did have a brother, Samuel, so maybe your post is my "big break" in that brick wall.  That would be even better than finding where my g-grandmother is buried!

Would you please tell me the location of Bent Cemetery?  Ferniegair?

Will gratefully report any breakthroughs.  Mary Ellen

Re: McKinlay & McNeil.
According to the burial records the following are all interred in that plot -

MARY McKINLAY. aged 16 years, interred 3rd September 1886.
WILLIAM McKINLAY. Aged 65 years, interred 31st March 1895.
MARGARET McKINLAY. Aged 59 years, interred 31st May 1895.
EDWARD McKINLAY. Aged 74 years, interred 29th March 1906.

Hope this helps a little.

Bent cemetery is near the centre of Hamilton and Ferniegair is on the outskirts of Hamilton on the road to Larkhall, quite near Chatelherault country park

Thanks, Sancti.  I'll pull on those threads to find (hopefully) more Barclays and Thomsons for my tree.  Mary Ellen
