Hello Wobbly,

Please would you do a search on a surname of Santon for me.

My sister and I are trying to do a family tree of the Santons as it is our birth name. We have been through all the births marriages and deaths for santons and have plotted them into a tree but are struggling with the ancesters before 1847.

The person at the top of our tree is a William Santon who married a Charlotte Blakestone. We have the birth certificates of some of their children but would love to know more about William - parents, siblings etc. We believe that he was from Yorkshire.

I would be very grateful for any information that you can find on any Santons.

Thank you,
Hazel.

Hi Hazel,

I have done a search on the Santons in the 1851 census and there are no William's of Charlotte's, so sorry to disappoint, but then Yorkshire is a big county.

Sorry can't do 1861 census yet until its repaired.

Enclose text file of santons anyway in case you recognise any of them.

Hello Wobbly,

Wow that was quick.
Thank you very much for that info it certainly does help.

Some of Williams kids were born in Leeds and so I probably need to look more to censuses that cover Leeds.

Any more that you can find from the 1861 census would also be gratefully received.

Thank you again.
Hazel.

Good luck Hazel, the 1841 Census for Leeds is not indexed yet and I don't think the 1851 is either as i was looking for my surname interests in the library at Leeds, but you find someone with a copy somewhere.

Yes I'll do an 1861 when the system is up and running again

I checked the 1851 census index for Leeds. No Santon entries I'm afraid. There were a couple of Sanson and Sapton entries but no William or Charlotte.
Researching Moon, Jeffrey, Umpleby, Mortimer, Lowcock, Lynch, Naylor, Cobb, Emmott, Lofthouse, Limbert, Brooks, Gilbank, Wilkinson, Watkinson, Hebden, Hey and Clemie in Yorkshire
and
Myatt and Lawrence in Staffordshire and Warwickshire

Many thanks for looking for me Saar.
They must have moved down south by then.

As their daughter Rebecca was born in 1841 in Leeds, I am surprised that there were no Santons on the Census.

Their next child, William was born in Newington and so I would be grateful if any one has the census that covers Newington in 1851.

Thank you,
Hazel.
