Missing Mother
« on: Wednesday 20 April 05 20:18 BST (UK) »
Hi
not sure if this is the right board to post or if date is to late to find. Also not sure if I'm going to upset anyone.
My Grandfather was born on 21st June 1910 at 35 Willis Road Sheffield sub district of Hillsboro. His name on the certificate is William Eric Burn. Fathers name has a line through it. Mother Beatrice Whitworth Furriers assistant. In 1923 for his secondary education certificate his name is William Eric Whitworth. Elizabeth Craven signed the certificate 44 Burgoyne Road. He eventually married as William Eric Craven. Any ideas anyone has are welcome. Did his mother die or abandon him. If this is the case did she go on to have another family. Grandfather would never talk about it.

I am just going through some of the posts which don't have replies....to see if there are any which I can help with...

this is only a suggestion...but on Freebmd website, a search for Beatrice Whitworth brings up a few marriages after 1910....perhaps sending for them may help you identify the missing mother......

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for you reply. I'm still looking for her and did see the ones you're talking about. i'm afraid money was an issue and sort of put it on the back burner. In the meantime i'm helping by indexing for
www.sheff-indexers.thewholeshebang.org
and am hoping to strike lucky that way. My other idea was actually to advertise in the paper for information but don't want to stir up a hornets nest in case the lady in question went on to have another family. Its something that my mother is not comfortable with. So i'll keep on crossing my fingers.
Take care
