Hi Steve,

I don't recognise the names Carrick or Athison from my research, but, obviously recognise Kildarton.  Have you tied any of the sites which list graves from cemeteries in Ireland?  You might be able to find the two women there.  Do you have the name of the man the letter writer was talking about?  That might help narrow it down a bit.

Dear Connie,

I have tried a few areas of research but the names CORRICK and ATHISON are quite rare in that part of Ireland. I have the name of the lad somewhere who wrote the letter back in 1886.

It seems the moderator has joined us together. Sorry to Hi-Jack your ALBIN line of research.

Kind regards
Steve

Hi, Randal - My name is Rachel Albin, and I am a direct descendent of David Albin and Mary Waugh, through their son, John Henry Albin. John Henry Albin is my great-grandfather.

I'd love to connect with you and share any additional information about the Albins or Waughs. Admittedly, I've run into a bit of a wall going any further back than Robert Albin, as you noted below.

Hello,

I am also researching the Albin family from County Armagh.

David Albin (born about 1813) and Mary Waugh (born 1822) were married in 1843.  They moved to Mississippi between 1850 and 1854.

In an old family document, it was said that the Albins came over with the Waughs and Fordes.  I may have found a sister of David Albin named Margaret Albin (born 1826) who married James Francis Forde (b. 1825).  I am unsure that they are brother and sister, but am pretty sure that they are related.  Margaret's father is listed as Robert Albin (from a marriage record).

David and Mary Albin had a son named Robert Albin (born 1849) in Portadown.  He is my 2nd great grandfather.

Any information or direction that others can give me would be very welcome.  I would also be happy to share what I have so far with others that might be interested.

Sincerely,
Randal Hansen

Surnames: Albin, Waugh, Forde

My GG Grandmother was Sarah Albin - father Jacob and mother Sarah Anderson.

The marriages of Sarah's sisters Frances and Eliza (1858, 1868) noted that their father was Jacob Albin.
He died on 28 December 1888 at Drumorgan, the informant being his son John Albin.
