John Albin - Jane Athison - Mary Corrick from Armagh
« on: Wednesday 18 March 09 21:54 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I'm looking for anyone who may have Albin, Albany or Aubigny (or a variation of any of these spellings) in their family tree.
Thanks
Albin, Wilson, McCormick, McAlister

My great grandmother was Catherine Albin. I have quite a lot of information/family history on the Albin family. Were you looking for anything in particular?    Annot

The Albin family I am looking for came to Scotland from Ireland mid-19th century. Are these the same ones?

Some of the Albin's went to Scotland. I think that Hugh Albin and family went to Glasgow.

It would probably be better if you could both give more details (names, dates, etc.) about the families you are talking about so you'll have a better chance to see if there might be any connection and others will know what you are looking for here.

My great great grandfather was Stewart Albin. He came to Glasgow in the 1850's from Armagh, N. Ireland. I discovered that his name when he was christened was Aubigny ( various variations of spelling in Church records). His father was William and his mother Lydia.

Have you managed to find Stewart Albin in Scottish census records? if so, there should be some indication of his age. If he came to Scotland as a child it's possible that his parents will also be found in Scottish records. He will have been born before the start of civil registration in Ireland so there will be no birth certificate for him.

I know all about Stewart Albin and his family but am interested to know if someone knows anything about him prior to his coming to Scotland.
