Yes, but to find anything in Ireland you need more details since you are looking for information before the start of civil registration.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Have looked in the records of the Church of Ireland in Armagh which is where I found what the name was originally. I was hoping there might be someone out there who could help.

The Albins I am looking for lived in the Richhill/Kildarton/Rockmacreaney/Mullabrack area of Armagh.  My particular branch of the family came to Scotland somewhere between1851 and 1857. - I cannot find them in the census of 1851, but they had a son born in Glasgow in 1857.  Stewart Albin's father was William and his mother was Lydia Campbell. Their family is all listed as Aubiney - various spellings - in the baptisms in the Parish Registers of St. Patrick's Church of Ireland, Armagh.  Some of the family seem to have changed the spelling to Albin or Albany quite early, but Stewart still retained the original spelling until coming to Scotland.  One of his brothers was James Albin who was Sexton of St. Mark's Church of Ireland in Armagh.  I do not know if any may have emigrated.

My great grandmother was Catherine Albin. I have quite a lot of information/family history on the Albin family. Were you looking for anything in particular?    Annot

Hi Annot,
There's a Jane Albin that married Robert Gracey in 1849 in Portadown, and I believe this is the parents of Hugh Gracey (b.1855).  I don't know any of his siblings names.  Hugh's first son was named Alexander Albin Gracey (b.1882), so that makes me think this is a branch of our tree.  If you have any info about Jane and her parents, or Jane and Robert's children, etc., I would appreciate your help.
Thanks,
cassiar

Hi,
I'm looking for anyone who may have Albin, Albany or Aubigny (or a variation of any of these spellings) in their family tree.
Thanks

Hi conalb,
I believe that Jane Albin is in our family tree - married in 1849 to Robert Gracey in Portadown.  If I'm right, they had a son Hugh Gracey (b.1855) who lived in Portadown and whose first child was named Alexander Albin Gracey.  Do you think we're connected?

Hi Cassiar,

I cannot find a Jane Albin in the dates that you have given, but Jane as a first or middle name features quite a lot in my tree.  As the surname is quite unusual I would think that your tree and mine must marry up somewhere. All my family seem to have come from the areas I mentioned, but I'll try some digging and see if I can find any in Portadown. I think the tradition was for the wedding to be in the bride's birthplace.

Hi,

Have just had a look at the 1911 census from The National Archives of Ireland (online resource) and found a Hugh and Eliza Jane Gracey living in Shillington Street, Portadown. Their family was:

Malcolm 20
Hugh 18
Marion 16
Jane 14
Thomas 13
May 11
Olive 10

There was no Alexander but the census has an entry for Alexander Gracey 28 living in Portadown with his wife Mary, 22 and their daughter Myrtle who I presume was a baby because there is no age attached to her.  These ages seem to tally with the dates you gave, as does the one for Hugh as he is given as 57 in the census.

This doesn't actually help me, but I hop it helps you!!

Hi Connie,
That's the right family.  Now if I could find the Albin connection.  How did you search the Church of Ireland records in Armagh?
