By 1901 Mary (as STAGG) is enumerated as widowed and a niece in an ELLIS family in Croydon. Also in the household are two STAGG children, Hannah (18 b Kentish Town) and Ellen (10 b Cattle Market, Islington).

1901 ref: RG13/644/77/43.

I wonder whether Hannah might be the same child enumerated in 1891 as Maud BLIGH (7 b St Pancras)? Having now seen her baptism as "Maud Hannah" posted by Carole, I would think that looks likely.

So they never married?

1901 shows Mary Bligh as single aged 25

Maud Bligh is 7 and Ellen Stagg is 7mths old
i don't know if they married or not but the rest is correct

He did not marry Mary Ann Bligh and was not the father of either Minnie or Maud.  Minnie was only born in 1906

He appears to be the father of Ellen in as much as her birth was registered as Stagg

Births September qtr 1890

Ellen Elizabeth Stagg    Islington  1b 282

William died in 1893 as posted above and was not a vet - he was a groom

The free 1911 index shows S Stagg male b 1860 - where was S Stagg born and what was his occupation

How many years are they shown as married on the 1911 entry
